Man remanded over alleged murder in Kano

A Senior Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano State, on Monday, ordered that Auwal Abdullahi, 18, be remanded in correctional facility over the alleged murder of one Umar Abubakar.

The Prosecutor, Mr Khalifa Hashim, while presenting the case told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Aug. 27, at Aisami Quarters in the metropolis.

Hashim alleged that on the same date at about 11:10 p.m. the defendant and the deceased had a misunderstanding over a cup of tea, at a tea joint in the area.

“In the process the defendant stabbed the victim on his chest with a knife, as a result he sustained serious injury.

“The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hispital Kano, where he was confirmed dead,” he said.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 221 of the Penal Code Law.

However, the Senior Magistrate, Hanif Sanusi, ordered that the accused be remanded after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

He also ordered the police to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice and adjourned the case until Sept. 29 for hearing, NAN reports.
